About Me

Jeremy Castellano

Hello There! My name is Jeremy. I am currently working as a full stack web developer at Achieve Agency. I also love developing and creating video games. I just recently graduated from Southern New Hampshire University at the top of my class (Summa Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science in Game Programming and Development. As you can see I love programming!

Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by science and technology. In high school, I became involved in many engineering programs including a program run by Lockheed Martin where we designed, created, and produced an experiment for a high altitude weather balloon. These programs eventually led to me pursuing a career as an aerospace engineer. I joined the Colorado Space Grant Consortium, a NASA funded program, at the Community College of Aurora. Here I led a team of three other engineers where we created an experiment with amorphous flexible silicon solar cells to test their viability in a near-space environment. Not only did I lead the team, but I was in charge of the payloads design, electronic schematic/wiring, as well as programming the microprocessor and onboard sensors. This NASA funded project ended up being a success. It brought back amazing photographs as well as a large amount of data to support our experiments hypothesis.

I then transferred to CU Boulder University where I received a full ride into the Aerospace Engineering program. It was here that I discovered my love for programming. I soon came to find out that aerospace engineers needed not only large amounts of math courses but also a decent number of programming courses as well. As each semester passed, I found that I was much more passionate about programming than I was about aerospace. It was at the end of my junior year that decided that I would change my focus and start to follow my passion.

I combined my passion for video games, and my love for programming and soon was pursuing a degree in Game Development and Design at Southern New Hampshire University. Here I flourished, excelling at all the courses I was handed. I excelled so much that many of the teachers asked if they could use my work to display to future students.

Simultaneously I decided to jump start my career and find a programming job while I was still in college. Soon I became a front-end developer for Abaco sunglasses where I continuously pushed the boundary of what I thought I was capable of. As a front-end developer, I created a perfect eCommerce solution for the company. Soon I was given the opportunity to develop a back-end system for the sunglasses warranty generation and verification. I also developed the companies back-end database retrieval system as well as a data scrubber and manipulator for easy upload to third-party marketplaces such as Amazon.

Eventually, I was hired on at Achieve Agency as a full-time front-end developer. Within a few months, I displayed what I was capable of doing and was promoted to the companies full stack developer. Not long after that I replaced a senior web developer at the company and became one of the fastest promoted employees's within the history of the company. One year later, and I continue to be held as one of the companies top senior developers.

Around this same time, I finished up my degree at Southern New Hampshire University at the top of my class (Summa Cum Laude) with a 4.0 GPA. While I love web development, It is my dream and aspiration to be a full-time game developer. I am currently working with eight other developers and designers to create my first distributed full-scale game. This is a project that I am completing in my spare time off work as a web developer. We hope to release this game in 2020 as the development of this game began in October of 2018. I am the lead on the project in charge of both of the programming team as well as the design team.

As you can see, I am a driven individual who is passionate about the work I do. I am extremely knowledgeable in a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. I continually strive to grow and push the boundaries of what I think I am capable of doing. I love programming and know a wide variety of programming languages. I am knowledgeable about industry standards and expectations within a developer job as I currently work as a full-stack web developer. I am also a leader who encourages and directs individuals around me to the best path forward.

Well, thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my story and I would love to hear from you. If you would like to connect, please fill out the contact form on this page. Have a great day!
